Do Tinctures Have Essential Oils In Them?Updated 10 months ago

We do not add essential oils to alcohol and call it a tincture, nor do we add essential oils to the tincture (herb & alcohol mixture). However, the constituents present in a tincture can be similar to the constituents within that plant’s essential oil, since a tincture, like a distilled oil, pulls out fat-soluble phytochemicals. 

For instance, Turmeric Tincture, like Turmeric Essential Oil, contains the constituent curcumin. However, the tincture wouldn’t be an exact match to the essential oil, based on the method of extraction, and that a tincture captures a broader range of constituents, since it also includes water-soluble phytochemicals.
