Essential Oil Shelf Life & Storage

Essential oils don’t necessarily have a set expiration date, but they do have what we call a shelf life—the time they maintain their best quality and effectiveness. Most essential oils have a shelf life of 2–3 years, and often longer when stored properly.

You can find the shelf life for each oil by scrolling past the “How To Use” section on the product page.

What affects shelf life?

The main factors that can shorten an oil’s shelf life are:

  • Sunlight

  • Air exposure (oxygen)

How to store your oils

To help extend their life:

  • Keep bottles tightly closed

  • Store in a cool, dry place

  • Keep away from direct sunlight
